A few ways I've helped
A growing ecommerce business had no reliable way to know which channels, products, or customers were actually profitable. Third-party tools were the source of truth for visitors and channel performance, and none of them agreed with each other.
The marketing team finally had one number to trust. True attribution, customer profitability, and cost and profitability analysis that weren't possible before all became routine work. The team knew the next day how they did the day before - which matters a lot when you're making daily decisions on ad spend.
A business was entering every order into the accounting system and then again into their inventory system.
The two systems started sharing orders on their own, so an order entered once showed up in both. The double entry stopped, and the time that went into re-keying went back to the actual work.
A manufacturer was entering work orders by hand and chasing their status around the floor.
The work orders and their status moved through the floor on their own - no hand entry, no walking the floor to find out where something stood. Anyone who needed an update could just look instead of tracking someone down.
Finance would say the numbers felt low, or that it didn't look like the full picture. The technical side heard that as "someone must have entered it wrong." Nobody was asking whether something could be erroring out silently and dropping on the floor.
Both sides got checked at once - the human side and the technical side, logging and all - instead of everyone assuming it was the other one. The numbers could be trusted again.
The email marketing platform the business ran on had stopped keeping up, and email drove a significant portion of revenue. Picking the wrong replacement would hit revenue and take months and serious money to unwind.
The business moved to a platform that did what it needed, connected to the rest of the systems, and kept running through the switch without missing a beat.
A business wasn't sure whether to buy off-the-shelf software or build something custom - a decision that would be expensive to reverse.
They walked into the decision with a clear direction instead of committing and hoping.
